Lata Am

There are things which are so obvious that you do not need to mention them always. And even if it is not written anywhere, people should not have any difficulty to understand (unless they are robots).

Let me share a story.

Me and my brother used to take English classes after school. Our teacher was a convent educated lady; while teaching English she used to give us lessons on discipline, etiquettes, lifestyle and all. She was a great teacher indeed, a bit short tempered though.

There was a boy in our class, Mithun, who used to do mistakes every now and then. We were learning Present Continuous Tense that day. After explaining the chapter, Aunty asked us to translate a sentence from Bengali to English:

Aunty: Lata bhaat khachchhe.

We wrote: Lata is eating rice.
Mithun wrote: Lata eats rice.

Aunty tried to explain with another example; and the conversation with Mithun went something like this:

Aunty: ami bhaat khachchhi
Mithun: I am eating rice.
Aunty: Lata bhaat khachchhe
Mithun: Lata am eating rice.

Enough. Aunty could not hold anger any more – started shouting – “Lata am? Lata am? Hmm? Lata AAAM?”

When Aunty gave the other example, I was almost sure that Mithun would make this mistake. Maybe Aunty expected Mithun to have common sense!

The person sitting beside you

...matters a lot. It is true that I love to travel alone. You may think that I want to travel fast and that's why I want to travel alone - NO. When I travel, whether it is coming home from Raniganj or simply commuting to my office, I get a chance to be with myself. If I find a familiar face in the bus, I generally feel bad because I have to talk to them and I have to sacrifice a golden opportunity to spending some quality time with myself.

But that did not happen today. One of my office colleagues was with me when I went to Jadavpur from Airport this evening. And surprisingly I revealed this softspoken and introvert person to be a great speaker! I am glad that he was with me; we discussed a lot of things and shared many ideas.

If the person sitting beside you can add some value to your thoughts, the journey becomes enjoyable. Same holds true for your professional life. The fact can be compared with an SEO company (@Amrita don't curse me for citing this example). A good SEO leader may not be able to deliver quality output if he is not working with a dedicated team. A talented writing team and a passionate marketing team are essential to make the projects successful. The person sitting beside you matters a lot!

Same is true for life. I need good people around me so that life becomes easier. I am really thankful to those who have made my life beautiful. The person sitting beside you matters A LOT!

Maa taught me another lesson

I was busy with documentation (as usual) and suddenly my mobile phone started to vibrate (yes I keep my cell on vibration when I am in office). Call from "Sweet Home" - received the call to learn that Mom had fallen on the courtyard and it might be a case of fracture. Oophh Maa, tomake niye arr pari na!

Maa - she is different. Her name is 'Surma' (indigenous cosmetic used as eye-liner); I can only remember another person with the same name - the famous Surma Bhopali of Sholay :D

She does not walk, she only runs. She manages all household chores with almost no help from us - we hardly get time to assist her (but we want to, honestly). All of us are sweating heavily to manage the work that she does alone everyday. Maa, tomar ki 10 ta haat?

It's needless to mention that I became restless after learning about her accident. However, I tried to keep my cool but it was actually "Hard to Keep My Cool". I planned my steps quickly; as I was not sure whether or not I would be able to come office next day, I decided to complete the documentation and other pending works ASAP.

However, I still gave Deb (a dear friend) a brief about the job so that he can finish the job in my absence. I did not take any break and concentrated deeply. And I finished all the work by 5:30 pm. Now, I need to revise the doc before sending it over to the client; but I am relieved.

Lesson learned: It's all about how you think - panicking is not going to help you any way; think rationally and sketch your plan of action accordingly. Believe in yourself - yes...you can do it.

TimeStamp

WebWings has been looking like an orphan; none is there to look after her. Shame on me, how can I neglect her this way?

See, I am not heartless; last few weeks were really hectic. I could not participate in forums, could not read magazines and articles, could not chat with my friends and could not post in my blog as well.

However, we have achieved our target. We have completed the documentation and user-manual of two of our products, which have been launched just few minutes ago officially.

I am in a mood now. Today I will tell you how I realized the value of time once again. On last Friday, July 28; I came to office as usual. But somehow I developed the idea that it was July 29. Suddenly my eyes stuck to the table calendar and I realized the fact. Trust me; I was so happy at that time. I thought God has gifted one more day to me so that I can finish my tasks! Time is so precious!
