On an attempt to classify Content Writing
1. You dedicatedly work on a particular topic. The advantage of this job profile is you get the opportunity to master the subject. With time you become an expert in that field and working becomes easier. Continuous reading, study and research enrich your knowledge. Chances are high that you will become indispensable for the organization because of your expertise and you can start using your knowledge in different kind of work there. You may contribute towards development and planning too.
However, the disadvantage of this process is: you do not get familiar with different writing styles. What I feel is: different domain of writing have different protocols. The site that sells 'Chinese Pearls' pitch their products in a polite and romantic voice, whereas a 'Business Solution Developer' shows a much professional and modern attitude. So if you work for the 'Chinese Pearls' website you are missing the writing style used by the 'Business Solution Developer' and vice versa.
2. You get to work on varieties of topics the way most freelance content writers work. Here the advantage is you get the scope to know varieties of writing styles. Added to that, as you need to do study the subject before writing to make an idea about the way things are spoken in the field; a larger aperture of exposure is what you get. But here the problem is: you do not become master in any topic though your writing style and capacity to learn become much much sharper.
What is ideal?
Well, there is nothing known as ideal! It may sound odd I know. Actually, what is ideal for me may not be worth considering for other. However, if someone asks me about my opinion I would suggest the second option for those who are starting their career as a content writer. For a fresher or a person with little experience of content writing, I would suggest jobs that involve working on varieties of topics first and get used to with different styles of writing. Then you can choose your own domain of work and shift to the first scenario.
It's completely my own opinion; let me know what you think!

Can I call it Information Writing?
No one can expect that a content writer would know the topic he has been asked to write about. The thing that is expected is the writer would do some study in his own way, digest the topic and then start writing. Good and reliable resources are must for writing good content. As I said that it is nothing but pouring Information in your articles, without good resource it becomes not only difficult but impossible.
So a freelance content writer who follows this strategy of writing and always deliver quality articles, may not be satisfied with just $2 per 300/400 articles. Writing on a completely new topic demands lots of time and energy. So articles buyers beware, by paying less you are compromising with the quality of articles. Hence, to get quality articles, offer more.

Wish you a Happy Bandh! Enjoy a lot!
I made a post about Bandh in past also: Bandh is not the right pill to swallow! Hence I have no plans to repeat the same thing. Bandh used to be the means of protesting and getting the demands of labors sanctioned in past. It’s not suitable in present scenario. Moreover, frequency of Bandhs has made it less important, so I hardly inquire about the basis of the Bandhs nowadays. BUT, if a political party calls on a Reverse Bandh: all offices will stay opened on Sunday and workers have to work for an extra day, I am sure it will help to bring the issues under the lime light and more people will be concerned.
So leaders: be creative and innovative. Try a Reverse Bandh and see the result.

E-Man to save Earth from Global Warming
Every year, lots and lots of TREES are killed for the sake of paper industry. And the process is accelerated during the festivals for the Greetings card industry. This is the time to get conscious. Paper is like a column of civilization. Eliminating the usage of papers seems impossible. However, we can stop wastage of paper from now on. And in the professional world, we can become paperless.
With latest technologies and developments, Paperless Office is no more difficult to set up. With applications like Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Emails, Messengers, BLOGS and many more to name, we can easily cut our Paper Usage Rate. And during the Festivals and on any other occasions we can send E-cards to our friends instead of a Greeting Card made of Paper.
There could be thousand other ways to protect Trees. This is just a thing that came in my mind on the occasion of Blog Action Day. I know that Paper Pulp is renewable material. Then why not from today onwards, we stop killing Trees for paper and start rotating the existing Paper pulp only. If there is any deficit, we have to compensate it from the solutions that I have mentioned above. No He-Man will fall from the sky to save us; it’s our responsibility to preserve our natural resources. So let’s be an E-Man and delay the process of Global Warming.

Few hours with EMC at Hyatt
The girl at the Registration Desk was very nice. She gave me a small kit with notepad, pen, some EMC brochures and some forms to fill up. The forms had lot of technical questions in it so I decided to wait for Sudipto as he knows our organization better.
Sudipto rushed to Hyatt Ballroom not more than 5 minutes later than I did. We started filling out the forms; but then someone told us to enter the room as the Welcome Note was about to start.
Mr. O. Rajesh presented the greeting messages. Some topics covered in the seminar are Storing More Intelligently, Backup Recovery and Archival, Compliance etc. I was looking for the Content Management session; however, the concerned person was not there so the session was dropped. We had a good lunch at Hyatt with lots of items that I could not even touch.
I learned a lot of thing today; though our company is not at the position to implement such Storage, Backup or Recovery system; but we may need such infrastructure in future. Moreover, EMC supplied lots of thing to think over. I really enjoyed the session conducted by Smartha Guha Thakurta; he is a brilliant guy and good speaker too. Thanks EMC for such an informative seminar.
Lets share the success
I am really thrilled that a site like SiteProNews has published my article. They were very much helpful from the beginning when I sent the first email to inquire if the topics of the articles are given by them or it's the writer's choice. They gave me a wide domain to write about. I did some research, prepared the articles and sent it and here comes the result. Thanks SiteProNews.

Orkut becomes more communicative and participatory
Just few days back, when I needed to communicate with one of my acquaintances; I did not call him, nor did I send him email, I left scrap! Obviously, if I needed to say something personal, I would have dropped an email, however, Orkut is more personal and more friendly now. All the best to you Orkut.

Wright or Rong – Google knows
"I am also concerned that every search engine or other search application can index and rank my sites properly. I do not do SEO only for the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. I try to satisfy all of them! Major and minor."
– by Webnauts
Sounds to be a good advice. Webnauts uses Meta Keywords; if it is not going to help, then it's not going to harm you too!
- Keyword in URL
- Keyword in Title
- Keyword in Meta Description
However, I will be using Meta Keywords for all my projects. You never know what Google has for you in its store!

PR Power
As you know, I always learn from mistakes, I started reading editorial guidelines thoroughly. Once I got accustomed with the technicalities of Press Release writing, I always had luck getting them passed through the editorial panels.
All of them brought my sites good links and visitors. I only used these PR’s as SEO instrument and it was powerful indeed. However, I must say, I did not understand a quarter of possibilities associated with PR until recent. I had to write Press Releases on the event of releasing a FileMaker based software. I developed the PR, got it validated by the software developers for technical errors and then started submitting it to different PR Distribution sites.
Additionally, I sent copies of them to a lot of tech-journalists and editors. Surprisingly, some of the good online tech magazines covered it. And within one week of our product launch, news about us covered first and second page of SERP for our main keyphrases!
Conclusion: PR is an Online Marketing tool with multiple benefits and long-term advantages if used properly. PR is written for Press people, so apart from submitting it to the distribution sites, it is important to send them to media directly.

SEO Mantra
Here is what I told to him:
Since Search Engines are nothing but artificially intelligent software programs, they cannot sense if a design is good or bad. But, as a Designer you should read the pages from Search Engines’ perspective.
Suppose your site has a good, really good content. Now, while designing the site you place the navigation panel at the left hand side. What will happen now? Search Engines, while crawling the site will read the content of the panel (that may contain product list, site navigation, sponsored ads, AdSense and all) first and then go to the main content. So your main keywords are pushed down if they are not there in the panel.
Now, some SEO checklist makers believe that early appearance of keywords in the page makes positive result. And you are losing it there!
I showed Sumantra some Tools that output how Search Engines read the text of a page. Needless to say that Sumantra was happy with it.
Do you think I should say something more to him? Feel free post your feedback.

Unsuccessful Interviews help you learn Parallelism
Needless to say that most of them did not work out otherwise I would not be writing this post. But I never regret or blame my fate for taking me through such a painful span in my life! Trust me; I have learned several things from these Interview sessions. One such thing is Parallelism.
The idea was not new for me, somehow I realized that while creating a list of items, we should maintain same style of addressing, e.g.,
Here we will see how to:
- Design web page
- Writing for web
- Develop content
This is WRONG. It SHOULD be:
Here we will see how to:
- Design web page
- Write for web
- Develop content
Now, let us know about:In an Interview, I was given a paragraph and asked to run a Parallelism check. Though the Interview did not work that time but it helped me learn one professional term and investigate it further. That’s the way failure should be considered isn’t it?
- Designing web page

Cheers!

Where SEO ends
Just think, your site is receiving thousands of visitors, but too few of them are buying your product! With analytics, it’s no more difficult to know the source from where these visitors came and the keywords that took them to your site. I am sure that you will be surprised to see that most of visitors, who left your site immediately after landing, were looking for the main keywords of your site!
This is the time to start analyzing visitors’ behavior deeply. I am not saying that you should stop doing SEO. No, not at all; but you should testing various things with your site just to see how your visitors react to those changes. Now, go through the images below:
Yes, Google has also started doing it! I am sure the setting that receives maximum hit will be finalized OR, they may display various messages randomly.
You can also do similar things with your site. Change the background color, edit the CALL FOR message, place a different button and see if the changes result positively or not. However, all these things should be done in a thoughtful way, perhaps with the help of experts. Go through what Sumantra Roy, CEO, Conversion Multiplier has said at:

Convert.ToMBA(MCA)
Are you a Software Developer or I.T. Professional? You must have an MBA degree in your pocket! All the great scientists become philosopher when they grow older. Now, I am not a scientist, I am a mediocre person with limited knowledge and intelligence; however, I have been feeling a change in my way of thinking lately.
It started while reading about Business Intelligence in wikipedia few days back. It is a long page with tons of information. As I was dipping into the concept more and more, I felt that everything in this world is meant for business. The whole Software Industry and I.T. sector is spinning around business. Most of the software products are developed targeting the needs of Business Houses.
Internet is nothing but a virtual market where you buy or sell products or services. You may argue citing instances of social networking sites; you may say that there are people who come online just for chatting. Then just think about the shopping mall or amusement parks nearby. They look like entertaining entities, but factually they are nothing but big MARKET. People may go there with a no-shopping mind, but they are shown lots of products, samples, offerings and many more casually.
Same thing happens when you log in to Orkut, or go to Yahoo! Messanger. Ads pop-up here and there and you are bound to see them even if you went there not to buy anything.
I am thinking to learn topics like Business Administration, Business Management etc. If you want to excel as a Software Developer or as an I.T expert, enroll into some Management courses. Still not satisfied? Read and feel the subject Business Intelligence.

TimeStamp
See, I am not heartless; last few weeks were really hectic. I could not participate in forums, could not read magazines and articles, could not chat with my friends and could not post in my blog as well.
However, we have achieved our target. We have completed the documentation and user-manual of two of our products, which have been launched just few minutes ago officially.
I am in a mood now. Today I will tell you how I realized the value of time once again. On last Friday, July 28; I came to office as usual. But somehow I developed the idea that it was July 29. Suddenly my eyes stuck to the table calendar and I realized the fact. Trust me; I was so happy at that time. I thought God has gifted one more day to me so that I can finish my tasks! Time is so precious!

Google Feedburner and My Privacy
I wanted to probe the FeedBurner and Google issue since I read it. Initially I got the idea that Google acquired FeedBurner to identify Splogs when I read the WebProNews article. And I think this is not bad at all. Thousands of blogs are created everyday just to publish AdSense or run any Affiliate Programs. People also create Slogs to link back to good sites. Splogs gain high Page Rank rapidly as the sploggers put Feeds of good sites there and the power of content adds to the PR value.
One easy way to point out Splogs could be feed subscription count and, perhaps, that is the reason, Google has acquired FeedBurner.
But what Amit and Todd have described in their blogs is quite fearsome. Amit sees chances for Feed Subscriptions to be put under AdSense/AdWords program in future. And Todd has pointed out chances of getting our extremely personal data disclosed to the world.
"Imagine now, that you will be tracked across the 100’s of thousands of sites using FeedBurner and they will know if your political orientation is Left, Right they will know what your sexual orientation is, they will be able to tell if you like adult sites the list goes on and on."
Now, the question is how Google will be using FeedBurner? If they use it to check Splogs, then it’s ok, otherwise Google must amend their privacy policy!

Google Print Ads
While explaining the program, they have mentioned the Power of Newspaper as well. NAA 2006 Reader Engagement Study – Conducted by Scarborough Research says that:
- 84% shoppers visited a retail store after going through newspaper ad
- 60% visited a website to know more about a product or service promoted in a newspaper ad.
- 50% said they purchased something online after seeing a newspaper ad
Lots of websites promote their product through Television Ads also, I am sure Google will never let this media escape from its reach.

Problem with Broadband continues
Again, pages are not opening even when broadband is connected. I have checked the status carefully, no data is being received, that is the reason no page is opening. The image below shows I got connection and then the problem occurred.
And it is a problem with the modem itself. How can I say that? Now I am connected through dial up connection of BSNL and it is working fine. Pages are opening smoothly and connection is stable also. So there is no problem with the system right?
I am planning to buy a modem from the market. Hope everything will be ok soon.

My press release in prleap
While preparing this release I tried to maintain the guidelines strictly, however, describing a new technical product often sounds promotional which is a big NO NO for press release. That is the only thing I was concerned about! Now I am really happy to see my name beside the news!

My Internet Usage
Now you may ask me why lesser surfing during the last week of April? Well, I cannot connect through broadband. Though it is showing connected but no page is opening and it is unable to "ping" also. I don't know what has happened to the system? Is it a specific problem with my PC only or some technical error on part of BSNL? If you have the answer feel free to contact me.

Save Soccer
When I do not have much time to go through the dictionaries to find out the proper usage of words of phrases, I try this option as well. I run a query in Google with a sentence with the spellings or arrangements that I am not sure about. Obviously my intention is to see the Did you mean: part. It helps me a lot and saves my time as well.
However, if someday more and more people start using wrong spellings then the system would be in danger. If, one day, 90 among 100 type "soker" instead of "soccer" then those who typed "soccer" would be prompted a message Did you mean: soker. I am sure Google would find out some way and save soccer

How to become a successful content writer: Part II
Never limit your domain of work to any specific topic or a particular website. To come out as a good content developer one should be able to write on vast range of topics. According to me, a content writer is he who can write on any topic based on thorough and extensive research. If you have a satisfactory level of I.Q. you can also become a good content writer.
I would strongly suggest maintaining personal blogs on single or multiple topics. Participating in collaborative projects like wiki is also important. It let you interact with knowledgeable person who enrich your understanding. It will be an additional help for you to write for Print Media to as well. Print Media helps you reach more people, especially in countries like India where Internet is not that much popular even.
Another reason behind suggesting to write for different media is to achieve a better understanding about readers’ psychology. Readers of news paper go through articles in a different way than the web surfers. Once you are acquainted with the reading style of your readers, half the battle is won. I would cover readers’ psychology in my coming posts. Stay tuned.

Content disables Google Bomb
If I do such things, what will happen? People will come to WebWings looking for “Nandigram” and they find nothing. Now, if I try to cover some “Nandigram” stories then it is no more Google Bomb; I have the right content for the topic.
So Google Bomb may not do lots of harm. However, it can push a good site down for a short while. Your rivals may make some low quality sites and place it at the top of SERP for the keyword you are fighting for. I am sure, these kinds of manipulations are temporary, Google algo will surely get the fake site off. So again, build up good content and be fearless.

wwwgooglecom
Let me explain it a bit more! I was supposed to create an email id saikat.myofficename@gmail.com, but by mistake I made it saikatmyofficename@gmail.com. Once I noticed this I tried to create another one with saikat.myofficename but Google did not allow me saying this id already exists. Now I am sure that there is no other Saikat in My Office then how come saikat.myofficename already exists because it is only me who can request for such an id?
Frustrated me opened another account using saikatsengupta.myofficename. I have been suffering a lot till that time, all my official emails are sent to saikat.myofficename and I have to find a kind colleague who forwards the email to the other id. Or, some emails are just lost.
Now, suddenly I accessed the account that I created by mistake and I was surprised to see tons of emails that were sent to saikat.myofficename have been dumped there at saikatmyofficename. What a mess. If I had slightest of idea that Google does not (or, cannot) identify "." (dot) then I would not have opened another email account.

How to become a successful content writer: Part I
- Help those who are interested to have a career in this field
- Improve my knowledge bank as well
Extend your writing beyond your domain of work. If you are working dedicatedly for one or more niche specific website(s), then you have to develop content to be published on other sites as well. Now, by other sites I mean social networking sites and social bookmark sites like del.icio.us, digg.com, topix.net etc. You may also like to participate in active forums where people from different sphere come and discuss various things. Now, this participation is a tricky one; beware of being tagged as spammer. I am not saying that you should not promote your site or your product, but you have to do it using correct and useful words. And always try to be relevant!

Bandh is not the right pill to swallow
Why didn’t they call a Bandh? Bandh, also known as Strike, Hartaal, was a tool for labors to establish their rights. Labors used to stop working unitedly to reach their voice to the owners of the companies and firms. It was a common practice at that time. But a Bandh in today’s scenario is nothing but a curse, especially when they are backed by political parties.
It brings no benefits for us, but:
- Youngsters play cricket
- Office goers get good excuse to manage a leave
Bandh supporters try to make the city stop on the scheduled Bandh day! They try to stop trains, flights and road transports as well. Just think, by doing so, they are damaging our image at national and international level! And outer world is developing a misconception about us.
A Bandh can never solve problems, at least not in modern days. Can a political leader cite a single example for a Bandh that has successfully solved a problem in Independent India? Perhaps not! Unfortunately political leaders do not understand this fact and they declare Bandhs to show their power, that’s it. They are least interested to think, how a Bandh ruins economy, our image, our prospect and damages our daily lives. People with emergencies experience horrible things on the Bandh days.
I am not saying the facts for which Bandhs are called are always vague, there may be true reasons indeed, but Bandh is not the solution! On the contrary, social and socio-economic problems can be solved by debates, discussions among experts, involvement of intellectual media.
It's the time to stand together
Often we have lots of things to say, we speak it, shout it, but it fails to reach to the desired level. Now bloggers have started getting together to crate such a huge bang that can never be ignored!
30,000 bloggers are needed for the event. They have started to get together. Readers; please follow the link and participate whole heartedly.
The reason I liked this effort is once 30,000 bloggers get united, all of us will get a strong platform to establish our views; and we can raise our voice any time in future on any topic. Email me if more clarification is needed.

The best Affiliate Program ever possible
The same thing Google has done with their Ad Program. AdWords couple with AdSense look like a really nice package. Through AdWords, Google is providing an opportunity to online marketers to popularize and spread their product and services. On the other hand, Google is offering a cool earning opportunity to bloggers and webmasters by displaying those Ads through AdSense program. Bucks of Peter go to Paul, Google, perhaps, keep a fair share, quite justified!

Content is changing its color
con-tent1In web, CONTENT refers to the material available on the websites in form of information – be it text or graphics or audio visual stuff. So people come to your site to read, to listen to, to watch and to participate. Now, if the content is not satisfactory (that is the reason I posted other meanings of “Content”, notice how the word "satisfaction" is related with content), visitors are going to leave and no back link, no reference can hold them back.
–noun
1. Usually, contents.
a. something that is contained: the contents of a box.
b. the subjects or topics covered in a book or document.
c. the chapters or other formal divisions of a book or document: a table of contents.
2. something that is to be expressed through some medium, as speech, writing, or any of various arts: a poetic form adequate to a poetic content.
con-tent2
-adjective
1. satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else.
2. British. agreeing; assenting.
con-tent3
-verb
1. satisfy in a limited way.
taken from dictionary.reference.com and Word Web.
Now, if your site has good and unique content, it will generate thousands of references automatically. That is the latest crush in online marketing field, people call it Link Baiting.
“Create infectious content and relax”, mantra of modern web development! Stay tuned.
